3MT

This year’s Three Minute Thesis(3MT™) competition was held on April 10. Kelsey Briggs won first place for her presentation, “Rabies: From Fact to Fiction,” and earned the $1,000 prize money. Second place winner Ladonya Jackson speech was titled “Rebalancing the Diabetic Brain to Prevent Dementia,” earning $750 in prize money. The People’s Choice winner, Samantha Spellicy, spoke on the topic of “STEMming Stroke: Developing Novel Therapeutics for Stroke Victims,” and received $500.

The event is a research communication competition developed by The University of Queensland.

Master’s and doctoral students have three minutes to present a compelling oration on their thesis or dissertation topic and its significance. The competition’s rules allow for only a single, static PowerPoint slide. No additional electronic media nor props are permitted.
